I started driving lessons straight after my birthday and loved it but started to lose a bit of confidence after failing my test a few times because nerves always got the better of me. So I started having lessons with Karen and she helped me get my confidence back completely, she made me feel very at ease. She was so patient and always knew exactly how to make me feel comfortable. She helped me so much with my nerves on the day of my test as I always really struggle but she kept me calm and I managed to pass this time because I felt so much more relaxed and confident. I went with Karen after I failed my first test. I'd failed on roundabouts so after meeting Karen we decided to concentrate on those. She took me to the trickier roundabouts in Oxford and talked me through the different considerations for each one. She used diagrams and maps to support her teaching which I found really useful. As soon as I turned 17 I started having driving lessons with an instructor who completely knocked my confidence and subsequently, almost a year later, I was still way from ready to take my driving test. I started to have lessons with Karen and even after the first lesson I was much more confident in my driving abilities. She boosted my confidence by highlighting the good skills I’d already accumulated but wasn’t aware of! My lessons were tailored to what I needed to improve on and gain experience in. Having spent several months learning to drive under a previous instructor, my confidence was low. That all changed when I took my first lesson with Karen. Karen’s lessons were incredibly well structured and allowed me to learn efficiently and in a nice organised manner. Karen really helped me on my driving lessons, using pictured diagrams and talking one on one through all of the key areas that I had to cover to pass my test. She advised me through the parts that I found difficult and helped me overcome nerves on the day of the test, and would like to thank her for all the time and effort she put in to help me get on the road.

Having driven for a couple of months on-and-off whilst at university with a previous instructor, and feeling like I wasn't getting to the 'confident driver' stage, I took up a recommendation from a friend and arranged a lesson with Karen. It has been the best decision I could have made! Right from the initial lesson I felt at ease and happy in the car, Karen uses diagrams and other alternative methods to help with the trickier manoeuvres and roundabouts which is very useful. I gave Karen an initial very optimistic time frame to book my test in, which she went out of her way to make sure I was ready for! Even when nerves got the better of me and I ended up failing my tests twice (due to unlucky points), Karen helped me to stay positive and keep going until I passed my test, 3rd time lucky with no minors! I would never hesitate to recommend Karen more, she is a fantastic instructor and I will miss my lessons immensely. Thank you very much Karen!

Karen is a great instructor, especially for getting your confidence up. I went with Karen after failing a test on a roundabout, and her method was perfect for me. I now feel fine doing roundabouts, even some of the more infamous ones around Oxford! She talks through exactly what you will be doing (with the help of diagrams as well), as you do it gives a few tips, and gives a debrief afterwards. She also tells you what you do well, which is a really important component other instructors seems to miss sometimes! I learnt so much about driving safely, and I feel much more prepared to actually hit the road now – not just pass a test. Thanks KBDS!
P.S. if you are on the tall side, the car might be called a Mini but I’m 6ft2 and fit behind the wheel just fine...

Karen was absolutely fab, putting me at ease behind the wheel straight away. I hadn't driven for over a year having failed a test and going back to uni and was worried that I would have to start from scratch. However, Karen was able to get my confidence up and quickly spot my areas of weakness so it didn't just feel like I was starting again. This meant that I was quickly far more prepared for my test than I had been previously.
As well as massively improving my driving, I found the lessons really enjoyable which was great. I couldn't recommend Karen highly enough!!!

Thank you so much Karen for getting me to pass. I had my 1st lot of driving lessons with a different instructor in 2009 , he wasn't right for me and I don't think I was ready and failed a few tests. Tried again in 2011 still wasn't ready also failed a few test. Stopped again for personal reasons. My partner bought me a car early this year as I think he was bored of being my taxi; so I found Karen. I started with her in July and passed in November although we did have 1 fail in between. Karen is such a breeze to drive with and we had many laughs. She is so patient even with my mirror allergy and my speed demon. Thank you so much for getting me to pass. No more doing the school run with both kids on my bike in the cold. Would highly recommend KBDS to everyone.

I then gave up and didn’t drive for a couple years and then started driving with Karen. I instantly felt more comfortable than when I first started driving. I started to learn to drive when I first turned 17, but it just didn't feel like the right time for me. I did a bit of travelling and after I came back I fell pregnant & thought it was a necessity to pass my test. I started back in February time with a different instructor, but with work and appointments, I couldn't really dedicate myself to it. When I wanted to start up again at the end of September I thought it would be hard to find an instructor who would allow for my 2 month old son to sit in the back, but when I spoke to Karen she had no issues with him coming along with me on my lessons, which I will forever be SO grateful for. I enjoyed my lessons so much, which I hadn't done with previous instructors. Karen is so relaxed and calm, which in turn made me relax and calm. I honestly couldn't recommend Karen enough!

Karen taught me to drive as soon as I was 17 - so I had no experience. Karen did not only teach me how to pass my driving test, but driving skills for life and safety. I grew up with Karen’s son, so was so pleased when she started her driving school. From lesson one she put me at ease, extremely calm and patient... a great teacher. She quickly identified areas for me to concentrate on, which was great especially when I was having extra lessons with my dad. I have had driving lessons with Karen since my 17th birthday and every lesson I have left feeling that I had improved with a variety of new skills. Karen’s teaching style was to push me out of my comfort zone because she understood what I was capable of at every point (the dreaded emergency stop). Karen has taught me both how to drive correctly and safely for my test as well as teaching me important skills and manoeuvres and talking me through potential scenarios that are crucial for ‘real life driving’. A month after my 17th birthday I started my driving lessons with Karen and had no previous driving experience. I enjoyed my lessons from the very beginning due to Karen’s calm and reassuring attitude which really boosted my confidence. After covering the basics Karen would always ask what I felt I needed to work on and would then focus lessons on areas that we both agreed I was weaker at, which really helped me to progress and improve. Soon after turning 17 I started driving lessons with Karen. As expected I was extremely nervous sitting in the drivers seat for the first time. However, Karen’s approachable and positive personality gave me a more confident feel when driving and settled my nerves straight away.
Finally, another huge positive of Karen’s set up is the great communication links between student and instructor. Along with this the in-depth information page on her website ultimately helped me pass my test first time. I would highly recommend!
